JOIN
Members commit $400 annually — $100 per quarter — to support local nonprofit organizations in St. Joseph County and the Michiana area.
NOMINATE
Members nominate eligible local nonprofits. Organizations are reviewed and vetted before becoming eligible for consideration.
THREE PRESENT
At each quarterly meeting, three eligible nonprofits are randomly selected, representatives from each of the 3 charities are given 5 minutes to present the organization to the group.
VOTE
Members cast a written ballot after the presentations. Votes are counted immediately and the nonprofit receiving the most votes is selected.
100% GOES TO WINNER
100% of the donations go to the selected nonprofit. The Community Foundation of Elkhart County handles the donations and issues the combined check.
THE DETAILS
ANNUAL COMMITMENT
Membership is $400 per year — $100 per quarter. Attendance at meetings is not mandatory, but the quarterly donation commitment is.
FOUR ONE-HOUR MEETINGS
We meet quarterly on the second Monday of January, April, July and October. Meetings last no more than one hour.
ONE LOCAL NONPROFIT SELECTED EACH MEETING
Three eligible nonprofits are randomly selected to present. Members vote, and the organization receiving the most votes receives that quarter’s collective donation.
COMMUNITY FOUNDATION PARTNERSHIP
The Community Foundation of Elkhart County handles the donations and issues the combined check to the selected nonprofit.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW
ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY
We encourage members to attend, but attendance is not required. The quarterly financial commitment remains even if you cannot attend.
SHARED MEMBERSHIP OPTION
Two women may share one membership. Each contributes $50 per quarter, and the shared membership receives one vote.
NOMINATION GUIDELINES
A charity cannot nominate itself. Nominations must come from a current member and meet the organization’s eligibility requirements.
TWO-YEAR WAITING PERIOD
To allow more organizations to benefit, a winning nonprofit is not eligible to be selected again for two years.
